Purpose

What does solving complex problems properly mean?

PROPERLY means doing the right thing. Not because it makes us look good. Not because everyone else is doing it. But because we know, deep down, hand on heart, it’s the right thing for us to do for all concerned.

PROPERLY means investing in relationships and building personal trust patiently.

PROPERLY means being connected to our client’s purpose and shaping solutions that contribute to a shared vision.

PROPERLY means going above and beyond the contract because we care about the outcomes.

PROPERLY means supporting each other (both ourselves and our clients) on a journey towards a shared vision.

PROPERLY means building a good business and being mindful of the impact we have on society.

PROPERLY means respecting every individual on every project and ensuring they are comfortable bringing their authentic selves to work.

Solving Complex Problems Properly

Ultimately, SOLVING COMPLEX PROBLEMS PROPERLY ensures we move ever closer to our overarching value. That we make a difference; together. With our clients. With each other. With the world around us.

“The easiest way to do anything is properly”, KJ Parker

I’m Alan, one of the founding Directors of TRUSTB. I live in Surrey with Pauline, and we have 2 grown-up children. We like living in Surrey as there is plenty of heathland and other green places where we go for walks. I enjoy playing guitar and especially like playing in bands with other people.

I’m a Commercial and Supply Chain specialist with a background in Major IT enabled Transformation Programmes and around 35 years’ experience, working at all levels in private industry, Cabinet Office and many other Central Government Departments including the Foreign & Commonwealth Development Office. I’ve led large, complex contract negotiations for IT Transformation projects with extended supply chains and ensured that outcomes were delivered on time and on budget. I’ve also managed contract disputes including ones that resulted in substantial compensation being paid to HMG.

We’re proud that the very first TRUSTB document was a statement of our values and ways of working. We have a strong team, and we all live our values even when it means making tough choices. It’s been difficult at times but remaining true to our values and being our authentic selves is satisfying and rewarding.

Zoe

Office Manager

I’m Zoe, my official title is office manager although we don’t actually have a permanent office! I am Mark’s wife and when TRUSTB was first established I offered to help with administration duties. From starting out doing the invoicing my role has grown and evolved to include looking after the accounts, establishing TRUSTB’s HR and Health and Safety policies and procedures, organising company meetings and generally keeping all the background stuff running smoothly.

I previously worked in offices before having our daughters and also worked in a pub as a duty manager but have mainly been a stay-at-home mum over the past 20 years. Being able to get that home/work life balance right is important to me and so being able to fit my work for TRUSTB, around looking after our two daughters, who still need some running around after even though they are both in their late teens, along with looking after our dog and running the house when Mark is working away is perfect.

I enjoy my role and I’m really proud to be part of a company which puts purpose and values at its core, with everyone working hard to live by them.

Karen

Founder and Managing Consultant

Hello, I’m Karen, one of the founding members of TRUSTB. I specialise in project delivery within Major Transformation Programmes. I enjoy working with people who in my experience make the biggest difference to successful programme delivery. Yes, we need to reach into the programme management kit bag for the right tools and techniques but it’s important to tailor this to the specific needs of the programme in a way that engages with the team to achieve that delivery. Like Mark I have been shaped by my experiences which range from highly technical engineering and manufacturing projects through to major HR change programmes. I started in private industry but more recently have worked within Central Government departments where the challenges and complexity are just as stimulating.

When I can tear myself away from work (yes, it is a bit of an obsession), I spend time in Hampshire where I am fortunate enough to live on the beautiful south coast with my husband, 3 daughters, and our dog Pippa, enjoying paddleboarding, sea swimming and walks in the New Forest.

John

Founder and Managing Consultant

I’m John, one of the founding members of TRUSTB.

I am married to Fiona and together we have two children and two small dogs. You will find me spending my free time walking the dogs, playing golf, learning to play the drums with my daughter or going with her to live music gigs.

I’m a specialist in IT Service Management with a strong record in service delivery and improvement. I have 30 years experience in private industry, UK-based utilities, and central government departments including Ministry of Defence, and Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office.

I began my working life as a consulting electrical engineer working with oil & gas and power multi-nationals before taking an opportunity to move into IT roles that got me closer to my customer. I am compelled by the sense of delivering value, putting the customer first and developing long term relationships.

I’m known for delivering enduring transformation to business critical, complex IT operations and services. I’ve a track record in continually improving delivery of IT services during periods of significant change through co-creating practical operating models, governance, and performance management. I’m at my best working alongside clients, getting stuck in and helping them solve their toughest problems.

I joined TRUSTB as the sense of purpose from the Directors was clear from the outset and fully in line with my own values. As a team of likeminded individuals, we’ve built a real bond through these shared values.

Roger

Founder and Managing Consultant

Hi I’m Roger one of the founding members of TRUSTB.

I’m a Commercial Management and Procurement specialist with over 40 years experience who enjoys delivering or solving complex procurement, commercial management and supplier relationship issues for clients. In that time I have worked mainly in the public sector at all levels in various government Departments including the Ministry of Defence, Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office and consulted for a number of UK Police forces.

I use the experience I have gained on IT and transformation projects, outsourcing, facilities management, agency creation and other major services contracts to assist clients to find innovative and pragmatic solutions to enable effective delivery from their suppliers. I believe that a strong contractual and legal framework is critical to managing major services contracts and IT delivery, but that ultimately the success or failure of these types of contract depends on managing the relationships and commercial risks within any agreement. I have a significant track record of adding value while delivering commercial advice to high value IT implementations throughout their lifecycle and in negotiating major contract deals with suppliers.

I was drawn to Trust B by the values which we share, its delivery ethos and that we all actually enjoy delivering value for our clients.

I am married to Jenny who is a florist and we have a grown up daughter who is teacher. We live on the edge of the wonderful Shropshire hills where we walk our two dogs. During our walks I can often be found carrying various bits of foliage and logs which are apparently just right for a floral creation! When not working, or carrying foliage I like to vent any remaining energy by hitting small white balls into the woods or ponds, sometimes known as golf.

Paul

Founder and Managing Consultant

Hi, I’m Paul, one of the founding members of TRUSTB.

I live in Sussex, with Julie and our two children, who are currently at 6th Form and University. Where did that time go? We’re near the beautiful coast, not far from Brighton and Hove and love spending time together when we can. We find lots of common interests in music, sport, food, and our dog Milo.

I’m a Programme Assurance and Test specialist with over 30 years experience in major IT transformation programmes, spanning management and consulting roles.

They’ve been with many high-profile organisations on complex, multi-supplier deliveries in a variety of business domains.

For the last 19 years I’ve been helping deliver key strategic projects in central government for the Ministry of Justice, Home Office, HM Passport Office, UK Visas and Immigration, and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. Earlier experience featured Life and Pensions, Investment Banking and Media.

I’ve worked for end user organisations, major IT suppliers, directly for government departments, a Consultancy and a software house and my background covers the full development and delivery life cycle, with a focus on assurance and testing throughout.

Through all this I’ve learned that if you’re going to make a difference, bring the business and IT together at all levels, build trust, forge excellent relationships, and achieve successful projects that deliver real change, it’s as much about the people who will use and deliver the technology as it is the technology itself.

Why did I join TRUSTB? Over time, especially through my work in central government, I’d felt a growing sense of purpose and have been able to deliver technology that makes a real difference to people, whilst still upholding values that are important to me. In doing so I’ve been fortunate to meet other people with similar views; people who cared, people who demonstrated the same behaviours. We wanted to get together……to help clients….to make a difference. Customers we identify with, ones that need help solving problems properly as we say. ‘It’s more than just an IT Project’ stays with me every day.
